4 Ingredient Tahini Salad Dressing: Tahini, Garlic, Lemon Juice and Honey

4 Ingredient Tahini Salad Dressing: Tahini, Garlic, Lemon Juice and Honey

It’s salad season! The fresh leafs of romaine, kale, bib and so many more are abundant! As, tasty as they are it is important to keep your salad dressing game sharp!

Here is another non recipe recipe.

This one is naturally creamy with as much of a lemon punch as you want. This dressing doesn’t require weird ingredients and they should be staples already in your pantry, if not this is a fantastic way to include them!

Tahini is not one of those obscure ingredients and is readily available in most grocery stores.

The base for this dressing is tahini. This wonderful paste is old!! References to it can be found in a 13 century Arab cookbook!! But, it is not just a Middle East ingredient, it can also be found in Chinese, Japanese and African dishes.

In some cultures it was used as currency and ancient greeks would use sesame paste as both food and medicine. It was thought that Hippocrates, the original doctor, recommended it for its high nutritional value.

Tahinins’ main ingredient is sesame seeds which is composed of:

  • about 20% protein

  • With high amounts of the minerals zinc, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and iron.

Tahini Lemon Dressing

In a blender/food processor combine:

  • the juice of 1 lemon or more to taste

  • a fairly big heaping spoon of tahini (about 3-4 tablespoons)

  • a clove of garlic

  • a little sweet, can be honey or maple syrup whatever you want

Blend together and stream a little water in to thin out the dressing, salt and pepper to taste. Store the leftovers in a jar for your next salad!

Tahini is a versatile staple and is also used in hummus, cookies, pasta sauces, and many other dishes!

Have fun with it and be creative! Happy cooking and eating!
